Harman Kardon was originally founded in Westbury, New York, in 1953 by business partners Sidney Harman and Bernard Kardon as a company that combined leading audio engineering with elegant design to develop improved audio systems for consumers, making every day more meaningful with superior sound quality. In 1959, it launched the world's first ultra-wideband tube audio amplifier, Citation II. In 1980, it successfully created the home high-current audio amplifier Citation XX, opening up new doors in the field of home audio.
