It originated from the robes worn by the Manchu bannermen and has been popular since the Qing Dynasty. Since its establishment in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong in the 1920s, 美華時裝 has experienced a century of cultural changes. Although fewer and fewer people wear cheongsam now, the third-generation owner 簡漢榮 still insists on making it by hand, which shows how much he loves cheongsam. Many people think that a well-proportioned figure is required to look good in a cheongsam. However, Mr. Kan believes that "whether a cheongsam looks good or not has nothing to do with the customer's body shape. It all depends on how we choose and make it." This statement emphasizes the importance of tailoring skills, pointing out that the beauty of wearing a cheongsam lies in the tailor's experience and meticulousness, which can cleverly highlight beauty and conceal clumsiness.
