On September 19, 2024, Hasselblad, the leader in high-end medium format camera technology, officially launched the X2D 100C Earth Explorer Limited Edition camera kit in Gothenburg, Sweden, designed for photographers who explore and capture the beauty of the earth's natural landscape. This kit is limited to just 1,000 units worldwide. Designed for photographers with an adventurous spirit, the Hasselblad X2D 100C Earth Explorer Limited Edition camera inherits the excellent features of the original Hasselblad X2D 100C camera, but also adopts the Tundra Brown color inspired by the cold landscape of the Nordic tundra.
Tundra Brown is the color of the homeland of Hasselblad cameras. It is where the gray-green of the vegetation meets the dark brown of the land. It is low-key and quiet, with an indescribable elegance that stands out among the charming colors of nature. Brave adventurers search for such unique colors, and with a fearless spirit of exploration, they record the ultimate beauty in harsh natural environments with extraordinary faith. They use Hasselblad Natural Color (HNCS) to accurately restore the charm of tundra brown, allowing more people to appreciate the charm of nature.
Entering the digital imaging era, Hasselblad released the world's first medium format mirrorless digital camera, the X1D-50C, in 2016. It has a lightweight 650g body and is equipped with 50-megapixel powerful performance. The X2D 100C mirrorless medium format digital camera will be launched on September 7, 2022. It has been carefully designed to bring significant technological improvements in image quality, camera controllability and system responsiveness.
The X2D 100C continues the X series’ Nordic minimalist design with a dark grey mechanical tone. The upper and lower covers of the body are cut from a whole piece of aviation-grade high-strength aluminum alloy, and the texture and material of the handle are upgraded and polished to ensure that the photographer gets the best grip when using it for a long time. It is equipped with a 100-megapixel back-illuminated (BSI) (43.8×32.9 mm) CMOS sensor that offers up to 15 stops of dynamic range and 16-bit color depth, as well as a native ISO sensitivity as low as 64. Paired with the new 5-axis, 7-stop In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), it enables handheld image capture in the widest range of conditions.
The system features 294 Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) areas to ensure that the subject is quickly located and focused. The X2D 100C can capture files in 3FR RAW and full-size JPEG formats, while advanced built-in 1TB SSD storage and CFexpress Type B card support provide high capture rates for fast-moving subjects. The X2D 100C is equipped with a 0.5-inch OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF) with a resolution of 5.76 million dots, a magnification of 100%, and support for electric diopter correction to ensure that the entire display is clear and bright. It also has a 1.08-inch color top display and a 2.36MP 3.6-inch tiltable touch rear display to meet the needs of multi-angle shooting.
